Walking:Holding is not so much a theatre piece but rather a series of encounters in the streets around Battersea Arts Centre. This one to one piece developed by Rosana Cade, where the participant walks around holding hand with a performer, is meant to challenge your comfort zone as to what is considered as a relatively intimate activity walking down a busy street. The performers are deliberately diverse and the range of feelings and emotion each induces is the main focus here. It is a personal journey and the participants ask themselves what their perception and projection, both on who they are walking with and how they are perceived by others. It is a surprisingly exciting half an hour and a great way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. There is a lot of potential here and it feels it can be further developed into something more substantial as if feels oddly incomplete at the moment. Maybe that is just how one feels after walking around, holding hands with a companion and being left on your own at the end of it.
