Firstly challenging the premise of stand-up by kneeling for the first part of the show while reluctantly engaging the front row audience, Acaster whimsically challenges the loop holes in life. May it be a free banana offer at Pret a Manger or the length of a stand up show. There is a loose narrative that he builds up with the fact that he is an undercover cop, infiltrating the comedy entertainment industry and accidentally being quite good at it. The truth is, he is quite good at comedy. His slightly off beat and mildly obsessive observations works well with his on stage persona and filled with clever little twists. But the overall narrative and the call backs are a bit contrived and gives the whole show an undeserved sense of artificiality.
